Just up front, I want to clarify the phrase “Baby Witches”. I’m well aware that this is a frequently use phrase used by or to identify people who are new to the Craft. Also, some use it to refer to young children being raised in pagan families. Well, lucky for all of you, this list can be perfect for BOTH!!! I can’t tell you how often I see “baby witches” in groups asking what they need to get started. Crystals are pretty and sparkly so of course they seem a natural place to start. (I don’t know how many times I’ve written this, but witches love STUFF! LOL) So if you’re in either category and struggling to figure out where to begin, keep scrolling!
Crystals are really great because they can be so seamlessly integrated in your day to day life. They can be kept in your living space, carried in your pocket out of sight, or worn as jewelry. What’s great is that you can use them to create magick without anyone even knowing about it if you or your witchling are not exactly ready to be out of the broom closet. (Most people will just think you’re wearing a pretty crystal with no agenda whatsoever!) Here are my top 5 picks for crystals that you should definitely have handy right from the start:
You may have noticed that most of these stones all have protective abilities in varying shades and types. What good parent doesn’t want to protect their child? And, of course, to the other kind of baby witch — once you start opening yourself up to the “Other Side” it can seem like your being bombarded with energies on the regular. It can be overwhelming and you could use a little extra protection yourself as well, I’m sure.
As always, when using crystals for protection especially it’s important to cleanse your stones and crystals regularly! Think of it like how you change the air filters in your home and in your car. Once they have absorbed a certain amount of gunk they simply can’t do their job as effectively and can even put pollutants INTO the air! So cleanse regularly. The easiest way to do it is to simply set all your stones out for the full moon every month. You can literally set it and forget it, just like the old infomercial used to say!
My witchlings love to collect rocks and crystals. My youngest girl presently also refers to all white rock quartz she finds on the ground (which are plentiful where we live) as “moon” rocks which I think might just be the cutest thing ever! Do your witchlings like to collect crystals, rocks, and stones? How do you work with stones with them? Tell me all about your baby witch experiences with crystal magick in the comments below!
