This week’s focus has been all about “Everyday Magick”; using objects and ingredients that you can find around your home already. Granted, I recognize that not everyone has everything, because we all have different priorities and keep different things around the house! So, I know that there may still be some things that are still a miss, possibly, but I will try to keep this has simple as possible without sacrificing the mystical act of ritual itself. I chose a money spell because, frankly, everyone seems to be looking for prosperity magick! Certainly couldn’t hurt have more abundance in your life, right?

What You’ll Need:

I suggest picking three of the herbs listed below based on what is available to you. I originally only had three but then thought it would be helpful to add others in case you have some but not others so you understand that you have options!

A sturdy piece of 6” x 6” paper A dollar bill or a quarter5 whole clove buds (you can buy these cheaply at the grocery store — you may already have some in your pantry!)Mint (cut open a tea bag if you have mint tea, but not loose herbs!)Pine needles (you can get these in your backyard, probably)Basil (yep, the kind you have in your spice cabinet!)Cinquefoil (also called “Five-Finger Grass; pictured left. You can probably find it in your backyard, too)A green or gold pen/marker/crayonTape -

It is best to do abundance and prosperity magick on a waxing (growing) or full moon. Possibly on a Thursday or a Sunday. You’ll want to set up an altar (if that’s your thing) and get all your other witchy tools ready ahead of time. Cast and circle and invite any other beings you’d like to have present (elementals, the God and Goddess, ancestors, faeries, etc etc etc.). Once you get to the meat of the spell here’s what you do:

How to Make the Magick Happen:

It probably goes without saying, but feel free to omit the number items below that do not apply to the ingredients you are not using!Lay out your paper. In the center of the paper write “I invite abundance into my life” using your green/gold pen/marker/crayon. (Of course a regular black pen will work, too — green is a bonus!)Fold the paper into an envelope like in this YouTube tutorial.Fold your dollar bill to fit into the envelope and insert it while saying: “Cold hard cash, fall from the sky, I bid you to grow and multiply.” -

It probably goes without saying, but feel free to omit the number items below that do not apply to the ingredients you are not using!

  • Lay out your paper. In the center of the paper write “I invite abundance into my life” using your green/gold pen/marker/crayon. (Of course a regular black pen will work, too — green is a bonus!)

  • Fold the paper into an envelope like in this YouTube tutorial.

  • Fold your dollar bill to fit into the envelope and insert it while saying: “Cold hard cash, fall from the sky, I bid you to grow and multiply.”

  • Drop your cloves into the envelop one by one and say “Cloves of scent so spicy sweet, bring abundance and prosperity.”

  • Cut your pine needles down to size to fit, if needed, and put them into the envelope while saying, “Needles of pine, living ever-green, May my prosperity forever be!”

  • Take five small pinches of basil and drop it into the envelop and say, “Basil, king of culinary splendor, bring to me wealth’s golden lustre.”

  • Take five small pinches of mint and place them into then envelope and say, “Mint that grows with wild abandon, may wealth become my forever companion.”

  • Take a single sprig of cinquefoil (five-leaves intact!) and insert it into the envelope and say, “Cinquefoil, growing wild and free, With your five leaves bring money to me.”

  • Once all of your ingredients are inside your envelope, close it and tape it closed so none of the herbs will leak out. (Don’t be stingy!)

  • With everything inside the envelope and it completely sealed up sit or kneel with your envelope in your hands. Close your eyes. Squeeze tight your PC muscles (the ones you use to hold it when you have to pee) and place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Hold that position while also focusing on your breathing; visualize drawing energy into your body and down your spine as you inhale and up the front of your body as you exhale. Keeping the tongue and PC muscles in place creates a closed circuit for the energy to run in. So, you are building it up in your body, but not allowing it to be released. Continue this until you begin to feel a tingling or warm sensation in your palms and/or in your belly and when you are ready take the energy you built up and using your breath, BREATHE your intention for prosperity and abundance into the envelope.

  • Once you have breathed the energy into the envelope say, “Let my magick bring harm to none, and abundance to me. By the power of three times three, As I will it, so mote it be!” Then, trace an equal-armed cross over the envelope to “seal” in the magickal energy that you raise.

After you’ve completed the spell, you’ll want to say farewell to all the entities and beings you invited into your circle and open the circle up again — the spell is complete!

You should take your envelope and put it somewhere where you will see it and touch it regularly; your wallet, your purse, etc. I suggest keeping it in the same compartment of your wallet that you normally keep your cash! The idea being that seeing it there will remind you of the magick to help you do the mundane part of spending responsibly.

Have you ever done money magick spells before? What did you? Did it work? Tell me about your experiences with money magick and learning how to do witchcraft on a budget by using what you already have! I want to hear about your successes and less-than-successes — that’s how we learn! I hope that THIS spell brings you wealth, abundance, and prosperity!
